Buying Used Cars
One of the best ways to save money in transportation is to opt for used cars instead of brand new ones. Used cars may not have the shiny look compared to the brand new cars, but it offers almost the same performance and comfort compared to brand new cars. The price on the other hand is far from similar. You can slash off as much as 50% from the original car price. The fact that they have been pre-owned means some of its components might have been destroyed while being used.
You have to be smart on how to select used cars. Car sales have been experiencing some trouble so there is a possibility that they could be using tricks so that you will end up using their car.
As much Light as Possible
Before you agree to take home a used car, take a look at the car in as much light as possible. A single shade, darkness and anything that can’t be seen could either be dented or destroyed. Insist on going towards the used car instead of the car going to you. Most of used car companies today know this which is why their cars are parked outside instead of placing them inside their office. If the car salesman doesn’t agree in taking the car outside or a well lighted area, look for another car company.
Bring a Companion
Two heads are better than one in selecting the right used car. No matter how expert you are in cars, it’s always a better idea to bring a friend or anyone who can give an honest opinion about your choice of car.
Your companion should also help you take a closer look at your preferred car not only in its beauty but to take a closer look at the dents. Request the car salesman to place the car in the center where you can get around the car, checking every feature. Again, if the salesman doesn’t do this, look for another car.
Check Every Meters
There are times that used car companies would tweak their cars especially in their mileage. This is a little bit difficult to detect especially if you are very eager to get a car for yourself. You just have to use your common sense in determining if the car still has a good mileage.
Mind and Heart
Everyone has their dream car. But dream cars are often impractical, gas hog and would have the price of a decent brand new car. If you encounter your dream car in the used car driveway, stop and think hard if that car is practical for you and your family. Your friend should be able to help you select the right car because it is practical.
Test Drive
Last but not the least – insist that you are given the privilege of taking it out for a spin. Even brand new cars are needed to be taken out before they are sold. Test drive the 2nd hand car and see if that car feels great and would respond to your control.
